Default Do you think the Pilot should of had ...

Do you think they should of had Louie in the Pilot episode. Or do you think that we needed to see Jack and Freddie by themselves first, to establish that relationship?

And also, When Della Reese came to the show in the third season, her name was added to the opening credits right away. But Scatman's was still in the ending credits. Scatman didn't get his name in the opening credits until right after Freddie died. You'd think Scatman's name would come before Della's. Just a thought though.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to answer ya Adam.
I think that the pilot was just about right, I think they really need to establish Chico and Ed's relationship before they brought more people in. The dynamics had to be set before it could be played around with.
Also, I think that Scatman should have been added earlier, but even if his name wasn't added, his character was a huge part of the chemistry!

Hello TVAdam! I also think that it was important that Chico and Ed
establish their relationship from the start without other characters. However I think Scatman's name should've been put before Della Reese's name. From these 2 characters I liked Scatman the most. Scatman was also more known at the time than Della. She was known for her singing voice whereas Scatman was known for his comedy.

Default First show

I agree with both of you ladies. The core of the show was the relationship between Chico and Ed. After that, anyone else added was just gravy. Scatman's name should have been added to the credits much earlier on...and yes before Della Reese. But without Freddie and Jack...everyone else could have packed up and went home. Their chemistry was the driving force behind the shows success, as proven once Freddie was no longer on it.

I agree, I was sorry Scatman didn't get the credit he deserved.... he was more of a regular than most, and from the beginning too....
I am not sure about this, but maybe it was because when Della came on the scene, she was in practically every episode, save one or two, and Scatman didn't appear in every episode, although by second season he was in most of them.....
I don't know who makes these decisions or why really.....

The first episode is my absolute favorite. I would not have changed a thing.
I DO love Louie....he was great but as for changing that first meeting of Chico and Ed....No Way Jose!
