Question Who's read "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy?

So i decided that I want to read "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I got the originals from my sister in law who has already read it. I love the movies and I thought the book would be way more descriptive. Has anyone here ever them?

I have the recent editions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy including The Hobbit. I'm about halfway done with that novel.

I love reading. I like Stephen King's work the best.

you may want to start with "The Hobbit" its not as long so you'll be able to work up to the Trilogy - if you're not used to reading long books it can get kinda discouraging.

I've read LOTR about every 5 years or so since i was 15, and I've read the Hobbit, the Simarillion, and Lost Tales, all good books, but a LOT of reading.

I've read the first book and the second book. I haven't made it to the final book yet. Reading them make watching the movies twice as good, because you pick up on things you didn't understand before. Plus, there are things in the book that aren't in the movie.

I'm reading The Hobbit and I find it boring. But fantasy is not my cup of tea.

I have read many books in my time. I didn't mean it like it's gonna take me all year cause im slow. But with working and then having to come home and make dinner and all that stuff I will read it in my spare time. I am thinking about getting "The Hobbit" 1st too before I start with the trilogy but im not sure if i will or not.

I tried reading The Hobbit but it was really boring to me and I couldn't get into it. Even though I didn't really like The Hobbit I'd still like to see the LOTR movies.
