Forget the landlord; what about the boss?

In the "Pins and Needles" episode where Ralph and Norton lock themselves in their apartments, did you ever wonder how they were able to take off from work? Neither one of them seemed like they had jobs with the luxury of taking off at a moment's notice. I think they mentioned that they were in there three days, so it is conceivable that it was Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday, but what were they planning to do in the coming week? I find it funny how the issue of their jobs was never mentioned throughout that whole episode. Of course, that episode is still one of my favorites.
