vcr recording problem ??? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

anyone have an answer to this problem ? 2 like new sansui vcr's , the recored videos from these vcr's ocasionally shake or jitter. used Rca blanks, have cleaned both .

That's copyguard doing that. GETA VIDEO STABILILZER . You can buy them from ebay cheap. they work with vhs. I have one.

If it still does that. It's either bad belt, heads going bad. Time for a new vcr.

I doubt it's a video stabilizer problem because Dave has one. He introduced me to that nifty machine.

Personally, I think it's plain ol' modern construction. Blech! I've given up on buying VCRs from Walmart. Instead, I bought a good Panasonic from eBay, like new. My Panasonic works much better than any of the three new VCRs we got this past year, and it was cheaper in the long run, even with shipping.

It could be el cheap-o vcr syndrome

I bought my mom a toshiba at sears several yers ago, as a Christmas present. It was $80 + and one day i recorded a movie on it in SP and then tried to get a frame grab in pause mode. Oh, man, I was disappointed. The picture was nothing but horizontal white lines -- in SP on a new vcr!! They just dont make them like they used to.

Im sorry to see go video starting to pack in their tent - those
were some of the most wonderful recording vcrs Ive seen.

I have this problem, and bad, on my TV/VCR combo thing. I took it out tonight and put it in my daughtesr room and connected my cable up to the regular VCR and her TV. Night and day. I wish I had done it sooner. I get tracking lines really bad in that TV/VCR thing, I have no idea why.

What do you mean about Go Video?

Was that the company that made the dual deck thing?

I agree with the person who said cheap. Cheap VCR, cheap tapes. I try to avoid RCA tapes. Buy Maxell or TDK. Panasonic (Target) are good too. Buy a Sony or Panasonic good quality VCR and your troubles are over...personally, I wouldn't buy a VCR that doesn't have a front LED time/operation display. Sansui's don't have those...that's really cheap looking IMO...

Yes, Go Video dual deck vcrs. A board on mine got fried and my friend took it to chicago with her, because they have an authorized repair center. It took them several months to get the part I needed, and they told my friend something about Go Video not being around much longer. She was really bummed by that, because she has had Go dual decks since they were first introduced on the market. They used to make people who purchased them sign a statement promising not to make illegal copies with them. Then she would go home, hook it up, and copy all her store bought videos and feel "sneaky" ^_^ heh heh heh

The Go-Video dual deck VCR that we bought earlier this year will not copy macrovisioned videos without a video stabilizer so they must have improved the technology somewhere along the line.

I didn't want one for that reason, I just wanted one for my basis taping stuff but now I dont know if I'll get one.

I want a DVD Recorder too and if I had to pick between them I'd pick the DVDR.

Not that either is within reach right now but hey, nice to wish.

All vcrs made after ...... 2000? (dont remember the exact year) cannot break macrovision. Of course, so many dvd players can be hacked to ignore it that most people no longer care. ive got to be able to copy stuff so i can have a "child safe" copy that can be watched 3 times a day and no one will care if it breaks. Other than that, no biggie.

Now, the cool thing about a dual deck vcr is that you can record on each deck separatley - so if you are at work or in bed or whatever, you can record channel 4 on tape one then channel 11 on tape 2 everyday, so you can have different stuff on different tapes. Then of course you can make a beautiful copy of it for someone, or, if something cool is on, you can record it on both decks and have 2 off air copies.

Of course, I dont do much on tape or even trade it anymore, but its nice to know you can. The nice thing for me, back when TVLand had that weekend long welcome back kotter marathon, I was able to record the entire thing without waking up and changing tapes. Since i had 2 decks, i could record for 12 hours straight. And since both decks can record at the same time, I was able to start one a minute early and let the other overlap a minute late. I was real happy with that.
