Question Question

Iv'e noticed several people post here recently since FT aired it's marathon on TVLand, who rarely ever, and in some cases never seemed to post when it aired for two years or so on N@N. My question is, did you guys' not watch it on N@N, and that's why you rarely posted here, or is it for some other reason? I'm just curious. Maybe some of you were boycotting N@N for it's new modern classics thing, or maybe you just never came across it on Nick At Nite for some reason. In any case, I hope FT stays on Tvland for awhile, so that these boards will continue to grow! These boards got real slow after the show was taken off the air, and it would be great to see them come alive again!

I too noticed the great increase in number of posts to this page during the marathon and its immediate aftermath. I think it is basically this: die hard fans will always stay here and post and discuss the show. Then there are some who may like the show when it is on, but not enough to constantly discuss it. I am disappointed though about the way the posts have slowed down since the marathon. Maybe they will pick up again in January as Family Ties will have a chance to be discovered by more because of the good TV Land timeslots.

Just speaking for myself: I had not posted when FT was on N@N because I wasn't registered then, but I did watch the show quite often then. When it was removed, I missed it. And, after not seeing it for a long time, I had a renewed appreciation for the show during the TV Land marathon. I've always loved FT - it's one of my favorite sitcoms of all time. I intend to watch it regularly when it is on TV Land's schedule in January, and I love discussing it with others, too!

Thanks for the responses. Iv'e often heard the term, absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I don't think that's the case with tv shows. Everytime a show I like gets taken off the air, the boards go dead. One of the best examples of this is the Diff'rent Strokes board. That board was very active while the show was on TNN, yet now, you're lucky to find a new topic on that board every four days. And many of the few new topics that are posted, are usually from a first time poster trying to buy, or sell tapes.

I'm just as guilty as anyone though, because when there's a lack of posts, or posts that I find uninteresting, I stop posting as well, so I'm not going to sit here and blame the problem on everyone else. Like Jen said, this is just too great of a show for this message board to die, so hopefully the sudden burst of posts that started during the marathon will start up again when FT comes to TvLand. And hopefully it will do good enough on TvLand to get a permanent timeslot. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
