I think Roseanne will be remembered as a show that defined TV in 1990s. As Lucy Ball defined TV in the 1950s and 1960s, Carol o Conner in 1970s, Cosby in the 1980s

THis site does put it in the 1990's section even though it started in 1988. I think it began to get controversial and people talked about it in the 1990's

i was reading the top 100 of shows of tv history, and roseanne was #12, the cosby show was #17

I think you are right. If you look back at each decade there was one or 2 tv shows that defined that decade. Roseanne and Seinfeld were the 2 for the 90's.

I think it would be a good competition between seinfeld and roseanne. They were both on for 9 years. Roseanne was alot more contravercial but seinfeld had hilarious incredibly well-written episodes and it never got old. it was #1 in it's final season, and that's definatly saying something. I think that seinfeld would get #1 and roseanne would get #2.

True, but Seinfeld did not do so well its first few seasons, while Roseanne was a hit its first five seasons. Roseanne was rated great its first half, while Seinfeld was rated great its last half. Thats just how I see it. I do think Roseanne would be #1, but thats just my opinion.
