What are tag scenes and can I have some examples of these in All in the Family?
Thanks, Patrick |

Tag scenes usually run 10-20 seconds and they are right before the closing credits. |

No it's a 10-20 second scene that has something to do with the episode storyline. For example, when Archie was pretending to have a back ache so he wouldn't lose to Irene in playing pool, Irene's husband tricked Archie by dropping a dollar bill on the floor and Archie went to pick it up and Frank and Irene starts laughing. Then the commercial comes on. After the commercial here is the Tag Scene right before the closing credits which is (35 seconds) Archie Walks in the House and takes his coat off, and Mike Says to Gloria: "He lost" Then Edith Comes down the steps and says: "Frank just called." I'm so Happy for you" I hope you thanked Irene" Archie says: "FOR WHAT"? Edith says: "For Fixing your back" Archie Says: "She didn't do that" Edith says: "That's funny, Frank said she straighten you out" THEN the crowd laughs and the closing credits begin. Archie coming home from the pool hall, an Edith says "wasn't that nice of Irene to help you out with your back? And Archie Said |

I can make the assumption that "it's also called a CODA" means that's another name for "tag scene."
Main Entry: co·da Pronunciation: 'kO-d& Function: noun Etymology: Italian, literally, tail, from Latin cauda Date: circa 1753 1 a : a concluding musical section that is formally distinct from the main structure b : a concluding part of a literary or dramatic work 2 : something that serves to round out, conclude, or summarize yet has its own interest |
