Back in the olden days of the 1950s-1960s (haha), almost everyone had a real Christmas tree. Artificial ones were coming out at that time, but they were awful looking! They were mostly made from aluminum, and some were probably like the one in the pic above. To this day I still buy live trees, and have never had a fake one.........
I wonder if they thought a lighter tree would show up better in the picture?

I've always had a real one too. But I've gotta admit, that tree is ugly!
