What do you call it? I say both.

I call it a refrigerator.

Both.

With food it's usually fridge- like, "what's in the fridge?"
or "is there milk in the fridge?"

If it is something about the appliance it's, "what's wrong with the refridgerator." or "I can't believe how much we paid for the refridgerator"

But generally it can go either way.
