Online/Offline status and gender icons? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

TJ, just wondering...Does vBulletin have the ability to display online/offline status? Not like the "Who's Online" list, but something besides the member's name that lets the other people know if this member is online or offline? It would still be the same -- people who are in invisible mode would always appear offline. Just asking about that...

And another thing...I know a lot of people here often confuse a member for another gender...Like, I thought Georgia's on my Mind was a girl the first time I came here. I'm not sure if vBulletin has that feature, but I'm asking again. Does it have the ability to display gender icons? It would be pretty nifty so we wouldn't have to confuse peoples' genders.

I'm enclosing a screenshot of what it looks like at this other board I go to...(Not vBulletin though)

This isn't really possible without a lot of hacking of the templates, so it's not something I would probably invest the time in if I may upgrade the boards at the end of the month anyway.

The online/offline thing I think would be rather useless since as you say so many people are in invisible mode anyway - they would always display as being offline.

Isn't that a board from Proboards? That's nice but it makes the info thing on the left side very wide which results in scrolling over.

thats only if you have crappy 800x600, change your resolution to 1024x768.

Didn't I suggest this in another thread? Ah well, it's still a good idea for gender. Half the time you can't tell what gender people are, but I suppose like mood it would be too much trouble. I should learn how to install hacks for vbulletin that way I could do it for you TJ.

If you saw how much work it would be, I think you would take back your offer.

Maybe when I upgrade to vbulletin3 and have a single style at the start, I will be able to hack in some of these extra features.

Well, now that depends. I'm always looking for a good challenge.

That's a good idea. It would be nice to have some of these extra goodies even though they're just a small part of the board.

Why not get rid of the invisible mode feature and add the offline/online feature? It's your board, I know, just a suggestion.

Um yes, it is. And you must have your desktop resolution sized to 800x600 because that's not what I use - I use 1024x768.

1024x768 ALL THE WAY, BABY.
