Funny that of the 40 artists on the list, only about 6 are currently still active promoting new cds. Capt. & Tenille are seen on a current tv commercial though. I think it may be one using 'Love Will Keep Us Together'.

And damn- whatever happened to Freddie Fender??

Any particular reason for choosing this week in history, Web Warrior?

"Why Can't We Be Friends?" - one of my favorites!
"Please, Mr., Please" - As Olivia herself sang, I don't ever want to hear that song again!

You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents.

These songs are great since I weren't around back in '75. "Rhinestone Cowboy" was a good song on WGHQ by Glen Campbell. "How Sweet It Is" was a remake of a Motown classic by James Taylor. "Fight the Power" by the Isley Brothers was a great song. In the lyrics to "Fight the Power", the line uses the profane word "Could it Be Magic" by Barry Manilow was a nice song. "That's the Way of the World" by Earth, Wind & Fire was a beautiful soulful song. Many of them are the rest. I love the song "Feelings" by Morris Albert, because this song was used in the Pepsi commercial back in 1990 where MC Hammer introduced that song after he drank Coke and after that, a guy shouted "HAMMER!" he gave a drink of Pepsi and he said after he drank it "Proper!". That was my favorite moment in a commercial.

From the list I like:

Games People Play- easily the best song on the whole list- good record that features all 5 Spinners prominently unlike a lot of their earlier hits that have women background singers prominently replacing the group harmony sound

Love Will Keep Us Together- many people DESPISE this as the epitome of bad 70s music, but it is bouncy harmless fun. Has that retro50s feel. Remember this was when Happy Days, Grease etc was big.

Why Can't We Be Friends- Ok tune.

Aint No Way to Treat A Lady- pretty record

Dance With Me- reminds me of that Muskrat Love record

How Sweet it Is- I like this better than Marvin's version. The sax part is cute

Fallin In Love- bright pop number

Calypso- Sure Denver is a hoary singer, but the melody is good and makes you feel like you're right there in the boat with Jacques Cousteau.

Final note: What in the world is Black Superman????

of this list (I wasnt' around in 75)

Please Mister Please. Catchy, but I much prefer Livvy's post-Grease material

How Long(Betcha' Got A Chick On The Side). Probably the funkiest Pointer Sisters song EVER.

Fame. I am a huge Bowie fan, but will never understand why this is his biggest (well, tied with Let's Dance) American hit.

Could It Be Magic. Prefer Donna Summer's remake.

Someone Saved My Life Tonight. One of the best Elton 70's singles.

Ballroom Blitz. Classic, did anyone like the Wayne's World remake?
