Hello, all.
![]() I'm watching the FT marathon, and they just finished playing the first part of "'A,' My Name Is Alex." This, in my opinion, is one of the oddest episodes of anything I've ever seen, but I also think it's one of the best. The flashbacks are unbelievably...weird! The way Alex's hallucinations blend with the storylines, his interaction with God and Greg's ghost, his own self-discovery, and the whole ambiance of this story just makes it absolutely fantastic. So "un-Family Ties-like!" This episode did win the 1987 Emmy for Best Writing in a Comedy, but what do you guys think of it? ![]() ~Lauren BTW: I think Michael J. Fox was BRILLIANT in this episode. |

That episode was nothing but a cheap attempt at winning an Emmy. Hey, if we can't win Emmys for being funny, then let's try to be dramatic instead. It is the ultimate in "very special episodes". Who the hell is this Greg? We never heard of him before, even though he's supposed to be Alex's best friend, and we never hear him mentioned again. That's just lousy, lousy writing.

I thought it was great. It was well-written and Michael J. Fox did a brilliant job in this episode portraying a young man with survivor's guilt.

I think it is fantastic as well. I knew it was a special episode the very first time I saw it. I enjoy it when shows do something a little different once and awhile. This was a very interesting, well written, great episode. There was no other episode where Michael J. Fox acted so well.
