Thumbs down Comedy Central's offensive humor

I cannot believe that Comedy Central had a commercial on a couple weeks ago with a kid in a wheelchair and the guy pushed him away after making some wisecrack like, "tired of all those boring telethon shows .." I don't remember all of what they said, but they showed that commercial several times recently. Then they had a "comedian" (if you want to call him that) during one of their stupid "stand-up" shows and he was going on and on saying how ******** people are all going to hell ???????????? And then something offensive about Indians......

This is sick....it's bad enough the South Park kids are yelling "G-- D---mit all the time, but this other crap shouldn't be tolerated. They wouldn't let this stuff happen on the radio, newspapers, and probably not even a motion picture, so why should it be "ok" on Comedy Central?

Not to defend Comedy Central....but on one ep of Golden Girls, Sophia pushed a man a few inches and yelled "Runaway Wheelchair" when she was trying to sneak her friend out of a run-down nursing home....and one time, Blanche and Rose had dark makeup on when Dorothy's future in-laws (who were black) ........... no one is innocent, I guess.... I don't know, it just seemed CC meant to offend to get laughs ... maybe GG did too, they probably shouldn't have done those things, either. I'm just not crazy about cruel or ethnic humor at all.

Here's an idea: if you don't like offensive humor, don't watch Comedy Central.

Fine...I won't ! I might as well just give on television altogether --------- that'll never happen.

Well, that is what's going to happen, but people who are offended still have a legitimate right to complain. A lot of people like comedy that's not hateful and degrading. I grew up watching the comedy channel and now they've changed so I don't enjoy it very much. A lot of us just miss how it used to be.

the only show on CC I watch is South Park. Sure, it's offensive, but it has a lot of messages that you'll realize if you get past being shocked and offended.

I've been watching Comedy Central ever since my city acquired it in 1992 (shortly after its launch, triggered by the merger of the short-lived "HA!" and "Comedy Channel" cable networks), and I will admit that it has changed quite a bit. Offensive humor, however, has always played a big role in its programming. Remember the Penn & Teller "An Open Letter To Janet Reno" spot?

I have absolutely no idea when CC was started, but for as long as I can remember, we've always had CC on extended basic cable lineup (since maybe 1990 or 1991?), and I agree, it HAS changed a lot since then.

For the most part, I don't mind CC too much (one reason being I haven't been watching CC as of late...I'm just burned out on TV in general), but their recent acquisition (sp?) of Mad TV made my stomach turn. I am sorry - but I think this show is worse than SNL (and I've liked SNL for a long time), and its gross humor...Ugh. Not something you'd want to watch when you're at home sick. I had the misfortune of being home with the flu about a week ago and I decided to turn to CC to see if SNL was on...I THOUGHT it was, because they were doing a sketch that looked like it was on SNL...But then when the two people in the sketch BARFED and then KISSED each other...UGH!!!!! *shiver*

Now I can never watch Mad TV in the same way again...that was horrible.... I don't care, you guys can't convince me...it's one of those things...You know, like when you eat too much of one candy, and then you can never eat that candy again because it reminds you of that day when you ate too much. That's part of my point.

The only time I watch Comedy Central is the "South Park" block.

When you have the flu and am lying on the couch, trying to see what's on TV, it doesn't seem very funny.

And it seems every time I have the flu, the TV networks decide to air episodes that have people dying in it.

Sorry, I trailed off there....back on topic....

South Park is so, so, funny and even though I love to hate Cartman and/or hate to love him, he is so, so, funny and not afraid to say things which is on his mind!!

comedy central is mostly full of boring stand-up comedy but i like south park, crank yankers and chappelles show. dave chappelle uses the word n-gger pretty often but he's black too so i dont know if that would be considered offensive.

and this is a little off topic i have never understood why people can make fun of blondes. if they talked about how blondes are "stupid" on tv, no one would care, but if they said something like black people are stupid, they would care. its flatout hypocritical.

Well i remember a day when you could have good comedy without SHOCK OR OFFENEDING ANYONE... classic examples- I Love Lucy, The Golden Girls, SNL.
