Default SEASON 3 is OFFICIAL!!!

Hi everyone. As I mentioned in the other thread, I've been checking Image's website everyday since the 1st of December waiting for them to update their Future Releases page and give us February's listings. Well, today when I looked again I still saw only the January listings page, but went ahead and put a search in for "FEBRUARY 2004" Image releases, and lo & behold, I got it!

The great news is that Season 3 is advertised there for release on 2/24/04. The really strange thing is the graphics for the front cover. Look at it and tell me what's wrong with the picture they are using:

Oh, two more things of interest about Season 3:

#1 - Synopsis:
Pratfall-prone Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) and his plucky wife Laura (Mary Tyler Moore), along with wisecracking co-workers Sally (Rose Marie) and Buddy (Morey Amsterdam), captured America's hearts in this TV favorite that irresistibly combined wit and slapstick. Earning the series' highest ratings, the third season opened with the landmark "That's My Boy?" about Rob's fear that he's brought the wrong baby home from hospital, getting the longest studio audience laughs in the show's history. Thirty-One Original Full Length Episodes including the hilarious "October Eve" (Laura is mortified when a nude portrait of her surfaces in a New York gallery) and "Big Max Calvada"(a gangster muscles Rob, Buddy and Sally into writing a comedy routine for his nephew).

#2 - Special Features:
5-disc set; Audio Commentaries Featuring Carl Reiner and Dick Van Dyke for Selected Episodes; Interviews with Cast and Producers; Rehearsal Footage; Emmy Award Telecast Clips Honoring The Dick Van Dyke Show; Original Commercials Featuring the Cast and Network Promotional Spots; Photo Galleries for Selected Episodes; Collectible Booklet Featuring Trivia, Biographies, Illustrations and More!

What does "rehearsal footage" mean? Maybe Carl changed his mind? Or maybe I'm totally misunderstanding what that means.

Thanks, B&W Fan!
That's great news, and as you mentioned before, it's one more assurance that all five seasons will be released!

Default Lenticulars

In response to your question about the lenticular shown on the Season 3 box front -

I know that the scenes to be included as "lenticulars" on the packaging were carefully considered and chosen because of the amount of movement which would be depicted in the number of frames possible using this technique.

It's certainly acknowledged that this scene from One Angry Man is not from the third season - but what a great pratfall by Dick (along with the first season ottoman trip and the second season walnuts coming out of the closet). Shouldn't it be included somewhere?

By the way, Mr. Reiner approved the lenticulars which are being used on the boxed sets and felt that since he often used flashbacks on the show that using a scene from a different season as a lenticular on a later season would be okay.

I could tell you what scenes will show up as lenticulars on Season 4 and Season 5, but why ruin the surprise???? Keep your sense of humor and your thumbs up!

Sure Kristen, here's the LINK.

Now, in order to see the "February Releases", here's step by step what I did to get a peak at them.

1) Right click on the "January 2004" button near the top left corner of the home page.

2) Choose "copy shortcut" from the pull down options.

3) After you copy the shortcut go to File, then Open, and you will get a blank in which to paste your copied shortcut into.

4) Carefully remove the word "January" and replace it with the word "February".

4) Then just ll hit ENTER and it will take you to the "February Releases" page.

Thing is, because they use javascript type applications, you can't just type in February releases to your browser. As best I can tell, this is the only way to make it come up. If someone knows a simpler way, please share it.

Thanks for sharing that explanation David. It's nice to know it wasn't just a bonehead mistake. I can appreciate their desire to include that "scene" as a lenticular. It was a great one.

Apperently they've got it to where all you need to do is type in "Dick Van Dyke" in the search window. All three seasons come up on dvd and vhs.

On which "official site?" I went to Doug Denoff's site, which is the official TDVDS site and it's not there. Are you talking about Image's site? Anyway, I just want to know if I can pre-order the thing yet!!
