Post The Oddball Couple

Does anyone remember the TV cartoon show The Oddball Couple? It was a take off of The Odd Couple, starring a chubby dog with a voice like Goofy named Fleabag, and a skinny blue cat with a British accent[voiced by Frank Nelson]named Spiffy. There was also a secretary named Goldie Hound, like Oscar Madison,s secretary Myrna Turner. The series went from 1973 till 1976,and seems totally forgotten since then. One scene I remember most, was during an episode where Spiffy and Fleabag took a vacation.I don,t remember excatly what the situation was,but they spent the night in what appeared to be a deserted hotel,in seperate bedrooms.Fleabag has a spooky encounter with some ghosts, who take him into what appeared as a bedroom closet on the outside, but was actually a long winding basement staircase, leading to ghost headquarters,or something like that. With Fleabag yelling'SPIFFYYYY'with his long red tongue flapping in the air.I have never seen this show in syndication or on home video.

Believe it or not, TV Land actually ran three episodes of the oddball couple cartoon in 1995, I taped them, they also ran the black odd couple with demond wilson....if you are interested in a copy of the oddball couple, email me direct: teeveecloset@aol.com

I've heard of it but I have never seen it. It sounds interesting, though.

I remember that show! The show featured Frank Nelson as the voice of Spiffy the Cat and Paul Winchell as Fleabag the dog. The one line I remember from The Oddball Couple was when Spiffy said "Really Fleabag!"
The theme song's patter-like lyrics were memorable. "Eight ball."

So do I. It had its moments as a Saturday morning cartoon, but, seeing as it was based on a TV show that was based on a movie that was based on a play, it was three steps away from an original idea from the start. Even Saturday mornings deserve something not so derivative!
