Default I'm Gonna Have Jury Duty

I have to keep calling all month to see if they need me. They're almost to my number, so I might have to serve Jury Duty within the week.

Has anyone here had jury duty? What's it like?

I would be really screwed if I had to serve jury duty ever. I love my job, it would be a hardship for them AND ME if I wasn't there and how would I take care of my daughter?

I've never been called for it and I hope I never am. There are about 100 legit reasons why I could never do it.

The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

I've never been to jury duty, but my Nana served on a jury for a capital murder case back in the early 1970's. Even though the guy was clearly guilty, she still wept for months because she hated living with the fact that she sent a man to prison. That's the kind of person my Nana was. Me, I would have said, "Fry the scum!"

Last spring, I did receive a notice for possible jury duty.

I reported on the date it said (date was changed once), and there is a huge lineup of other potential jurors.

After being there for over an hour, mostly sitting around & waiting, we are told that the case that this jury was to be for, was settled the night before.

Most everyone is now relieved. They now can't call on us, for 3 years.

I got called in a couple years ago. I had to go to the courthouse and wait around all day but my number was never called, so they sent me and a bunch of other people home. It was kind of interesting though seeing the lawyers question the potential jurors.

My mom's been called to jury duty twice -- but never had to be a juror either time, thank God.

I just want to ask one thing, though -- what's so dreadful about serving on the jury that makes everybody hate it?

Well I'm just speaking for myself. I wouldn't have minded sitting on the jury had my name come up. The bad thing is they only pay like $15 a day and if it turns out to be a really long trial that could hurt me financially. I have heard though if you have a good reason you can write a letter stating that you can't serve on the jury and they will schedule you for another time. I was only there for 2 1/2 days though.

This might sound stupid, but why do they just randomly pick on people to do Jury duty?

Thank God NO! But seriously, I think everyone is guilty whether they are or not. I really do. I doubt I'd be much good.

Probably because no one would volunteer.

I have to go down there for Jury Duty on my Birthday (December 16th)! I guess it won't be too bad, I still don't want to go.
