Question Inconsistancy in series . . .

There seems to be some serious inconsistancies throughout the series. Do you think this is due to the fact that the writers just made mistakes without realizing it? Or do you think that they might have been aware of the mistakes, but just went ahead anyway. For one example, the birth of Jeannie. Doesn't it say in the first episode or so that Jeannie was born, I think, in 64 B.C. but later on in the series, there is the episode where Jeannie doens't know when she was born and they have to use the computer to find out. Or, for example, Jeannie was turned into a genie because she refused to marry the blue djinn and yet her family are genies as well???? Just curious if these were true mistakes which the writers did not realize were taking place or if they knew and just didn't really care. What is your opininion?

They may have had different writers who didn't pay much attention to the past episodes.

Yeah, I think it may have been because there were a lot of different writers, althought it might have been something else. I always had a theory about the birthday thing... Maybe since she had to make up some of the things on the application (if I'm not mistaken she wants to be a WAF and she filled out an application which asked for her b-day) she might have just made it up, even though she did make it clear that she was 2000 years old, so if she didn't know when she was born, how would she know how old she is? Well, I just contradicted myself, but I think you might get what I'm trying to say.

Another thing I never understood was how Jeannie knew all of these famous historical figures. She was supposed to be trapped in her bottle for 2,000 years........

LOL! The same thing with Samantha in Bewitched. She knew everybody throughout history, it seems. LOL! But I know what you are saying about Jeannie . . . . at least Sam wasn't cooped up inside of a bottle for 2,000 years!!! LOL!

Well, in the black and white episodes, there was a story opening. The narrator says Jeannie was cooped up in a bottle for 2,000 years. If she IS 2,000 years old, then wouldn't she be like an infant when she refused to marry the Djinn??

but since supposedly she didn't know her birthday then maybe they made it as if she was approx. 2000 years old.. but wait that doesn't make sense anyway because when we did find out her b-day she was exactly 2000.. ok nevermind this theory.. it's all wrong.. all I know is that they really messed up the facts!

Another inconsistency of the show is that in one of the B&W eps, Jeannie said that genies can't be photographed, and in a later ep we've seen her picture appear in the newspaper, plus in the "Used Car Salesman" ep we've seen Jeannie appear on TV!

Then later in the wedding ep, once again Jeannie said that genies can't be photograped...

(so I find it quite understandable that Larry Hagman was "difficult" about the scripts sometimes)....
