Thelma

I have to say that from viewing "Good Times", I find that Thelma isn't used as much as the other characters, other than insulting J.J. all the time. I would have like to have learned more about the Evanses only daughter herself...what HER interests were, who her friends were, what her dreams were...they never did this with Thelma as much as they did with J.J. and Michael.

That was Esther Rolle's complaint in the 1975 Ebony Magazine Article. She wanted the Thelma Character to be developed more. So it looks like that was during the summer of 1975 because Thelma was involved more in the stories during the 3rd season. Remember the episode Thelma's Young Man. I enjoyed that one. BUt yes you were right Thelma was not used much I guess because they wanted the show to revolve around J.J instead of the other Family members or the Family as a whole.

I agree; Good Times should had focused more on Thelma, I enjoyed her character and would liked to her her revolved more in the show

None of Thelma's Gilfriends were shown until season 5. So i definitely agree

Besides that i loved the clothes she wore; cool flared jeans with designed match works..Some natty attire even for the projects of Chicago...

It was the same thing with Michael-LOL I never saw any of his friends until season 5. I guess since Florida and James was gone, the producers and writers didn't have any choice to expand the Michael and Thelma characters.

That makes sense...Only friend of the evan's family that you saw all the time was Willona...
