E-mailed Gary Portnoy, and found out something 'shocking' (lol) about the theme

unlike i've thought, there was only ONE recording of the theme for the show, EVER.
For season 4(and on) on NBC, it wasn't a new recording! Paramount actually went in and 'remixed' it for stereo sound. he wasnt even told about it. he, personally, doesnt think it has the same vocal 'balance' that the original, 'untainted' recording had.

interesting, cuz i'd have never thought that they'd b from the same recording. otherwise, i knew that all the other recuts (syndication, short themes, etc) were cuts from the main one, but i never thought that the 'newer' theme itself was a remix of the original (nbc seasons 1-3...technically, itd be remastered seasons 1-3 too, where they sound even more unalike)
