During the holidays, some sitcoms air episodes based on the classic movie It's a Wonderful Life . In these episodes, a character is shown how things would have been if he or she had never been born. My question is, what would have it looked like if some classic sitcoms had used this plot device??? Here are some examples.

Gilligan's Island: Gilligan dreams that he was never born. The SS Minnow successfully weathers the storm at sea, thanks to the Skipper's first mate, Jerry, and they all return to civilization. However, nobody has a successful life. The Howells get a divorce. Mary Ann marries Horace Higginbottom, but is unhappy as a housewife. Ginger ends up on a bad sitcom. The Professor is fired from his job. Skipper can't get along with his first mate, Jerry.

The Dick Van Dyke Show: Rob dreams that he was never born. Mel Cooley is the head writer of The Alan Brady Show . Buddy and Sally can't get along with him and are threatening to quit. Alan keeps making passes at the show's new dancer, Laura Meeker. Jerry and Millie can't get along with their neighbors.

Three's Company : Jack dreams that he was never born. Janet and Chrissy are bored to death with their new roommate, a librarian named Millicent.

In "Laverne & Shirley, ep. #132 is titled 'Laverne's Broken Leg.' Here, Laverne breaks her leg, and then falls asleep watching 'It's A Wonderful Life.' It's when she dreams of what life would be like if she hadn't been born. Well, SHirley would live alone with cats, Frank would be broke and lonely, etc.

Cheers - "It's A Wonderful Bar"
After overhearing everyone complain about her, Diane dreams that she had never come into Cheers. Norm and Cliff never become friends, Carla harasses Sam and Coach (who she would NEVER harass), and Sam becomes very lonely and never comes off the bottle.

The Brady Bunch - "It's A Wonderful Jan"
After her brothers and sisters tell her how she gets in the way all the time, Jan wishes that she had never been born. The themesong is completely destroyed, Carol and Mike never meet, because it was Jan who rammed the grocery cart in Mike when Mike and Carol met. The Bradys now live seperate lives, and Alice is homeless on the streets. (Alice acts as Jan's "Angel")
