Default FLINTSTONES Season 1 coming in 2004!

It's finally gonna happen! Warner Bros. says it will release the first season of The Flintstones (as well as the Jetsons) some time next year. There is no official release date set as of yet, but it is coming next year! Fantastic news, huh?!!!

B&W "actually, next year is shaping up quite nicely for me as far as TVonDVD goes. Alot of the older shows are scheduled for release, and I couldn't be happier!" fan

The most reliable source on the net for such news: The Digital Bits

It's about 3/4 the way down that page, at the end of the paragraph that begins with:

August appears to be the month when WB will release ...

Wasn't the first season or at least the first few episodes of The Flintstones done in black and white? I hope that they release them in their original fashion. Plus, didn't those early episodes have a different theme song?

I'm definately going to buy the DVD set. I try to buy all of the TV shows on DVD, but this is one that I'm really excited about.

The first two seasons were broadcast in black and white, as were most television programs from the late 50s/early 60s, but they were made in color from the outset, as Hanna-Barbera wanted the show to have a long life on tv, and a color program would ensure that long life.(and a long life means more money for the producers.)

However, the commercials that were made for "The Flintstones", particularly the Winston Cigarettes ads, were done in b&w, so maybe those will be included in the DVD as extras...

I read this news from tvshowsondvd.com the other day. Good news indeed, I cannot wait until it comes out, it will be awesome! Hopefully the first season sells good so they can put the whole series out.

The first season did have a different theme song.It was an instramental titled"Rise And Shine",which could often be heard as background music in episodes throughout the series. The openning and closing credit scenes were different too.The openning scene apparently showed Fred driving home in his flintmobile,to sit infront of his television set.The closing scene involved Fred turning off the TV set, covering a birdcage with a blanket with Wilma asleep in bed,and last but not least, putting the cat out for the night.Followed by the now famous'cat throwing Fred out the door and locking him out'scene. For some reason, this theme was never seen again once it was replaced by the now more familiar"Meet The Flintstones"credit scenes.

Actually, for those of us with Boomerang, we get to see those first couple of seasons and the "Rise & Shine" openings. I love them! And I hope they make sure that the dvds from the 1st Season use the correct opening and closing themes (the Rise & Shine theme). If not, I'll be very upset.
