"The First Thanskgiving" Thoughts - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

It's obvious this show is starting to shy away from the emotions. What surprised me the most was when Cate thought the girls didn't want to go to the Thanksgiving dinner at home because of Paul, but then they mentioned it wasn't because it was their first time being invited to this some really cool party. That was my least favorite and worst part of the show. The cutest part was when Rory took on the fatherly role by protecting his two sisters and calling them "the girls" and calling Cate by her name. Really so Paul-like!

The saddest part was at the end when they were ready to carve the turkey and everyone looks at the place where Paul usually sits. Then, they decide Rory should cut the turkey. That was sweet. The strange thing was that I found was when they showed Paul's place at the table, it almost felt they were going to show a montage fading in of Paul OR it would show him appear like a ghost sitting at the table. I'm thinking like other shows where it showed a ghost resemblance of their families appearing, but those actors were still alive, unlike this situation. Who knows, but maybe I was thinking it would be of a past clip of Paul sitting at a table and they just morphed into this. Maybe my mind was thinking too much of how this piece should've been shown. But it was so funny when he didn't know how to carve the turkey and was making such a mess.....

wow...that would have been very powerful and depressing for them to show a vision of Paul at his seat at the table..

this is sorta off topic, but i thought i'd mention it here.. I'm going to miss when Paul was with his girls and then it would show when they were very little and how Paul realizes how much they've changed from little girls into women. I thought that was a really neat thing for them to do in the show and it really showed how Paul still felt about his little girls and how he wanted to protect them all the time from everything.
