Default simpsons taking a cheap shot at jimmy page/led zep

what was up with that low blow to jimmy page during last week's episode? did they want to animate him for the episode and he turned them down and this was there way of showing him nobody misses an opportunity to be on the simpsons? i wouldnt even call him the biggest theif of black american music anyways (unless they were refering to his yardbirds years). wouldnt that role be better suited for like the stones or animals, those were really the first british bands to put out there own rendition of american blues.

I agree. I wouldn't call Jimmy Page the first or the biggest thief of black american music. We'll probably never know why it was said; the writers seem to take cheap shots at lots of things. Arby's, for example.

yeah, they do take alot of cheap shots. but that one struck a nerve with me, i sensed there was something personal there. for a few moments i just kinda sat there with my jaw dropped in awe.

Be quiet. It's no big deal. I love Jimmy Page, and I though it was pretty funny.

i agree it was funny. just wondering if there was a reason they picked jimmy page. i really think he turned down an invitation to be on the show, theyve had most of the biggest names in music, but never him or robert plant.

It's just what this show does. It does get kind of annoying after awhile, just because a lot of times the jokes arn't even funny, but I liked this one.

Default That's below the belt

Sorry, I love The Simpson's but that was a real cheapshot on Jimmy Page. First of all British musicians like Page did a hell of a lot more to revitalize the careers of black bluesmen in the US than anyone in their own country did. And secondly even the giants of black American blues did more than their fare share of 'borrowing' from each other shall we say.

The crack on Jimmy was typical of a vein of knee-jerk, lefty-liberal tree hugger-ism that pervaded the show after about the 9th or 10th season.
