Default season finales

Which was your favorite season finale? Al though one for the road was great, I would have to say that my favorite was stange bedfellows although it could drive you crazy if you didn't know who he was proposing to.

Strange bedfellows is my second choice.

My first one is "I do, Adieu" The producers were very good, I think, to shelley in sending off her character, in spite of the fact that she was leaving. They could have really killed it for us die-hard Sam and Diane fans by well having Diane Die in some freak accident, or having her runnaway and leaving a stupid note. That entire episode switching between the future that never was and the present is one of the greatest episodes in tv history. I've only seen it once and have refused to record it. I cried so hard when I saw it...believe me I'm not one to bawl over tv or movies...but them as an old couple dancing in the end got to me. I truly love this episode, and at the same time hate it...because it is the Diane's character's true exit....most of you know how I feel about one for the road..and the way the portrayed Diane in that one.

Ya know, originally, I was saying to myself, "SHOWDOWN ALL THE WAY!!!", but then I read Maria's post, and it almost changed my mind! However, my decision still holds strong. Showdown could be the best darn episode in Cheers history!

Of course, I have to elaborate...that's just the way I am.

Showdown, in my opinion, was the best finale because of the way in which the writers brought Sam and Diane together for the first time. It could have been all mushy and gushy and gag-provoking, but that's not Cheers. Nothing about that episode changed anything about the show, which was smart, because it was already perfect the way it was. The episode was still funny, carried the same sick humor as it always had, and kept the tension between the lovebirds taut for as long as humanly possible.

And then...The Last Scene...

What more must I say?

I totally agree with this in that I think that this episode showcased some of the best writing ever in television. I wonder if that episode was nominated for an Emmy for best writing. (I know "Give Me a Ring Sometime" won in that category that year.)

Anyway, I also think that the plot of "I Do, Adieu" was extremely well conceived, but it's so hard to watch that I can't give it my vote.

As for Strange Bedfellows--I would've been infuriated if I were left not really knowing whom Sam was calling for 3 months--seriously I would've gone crazy.

It would have driven me crazy too! And it's not my favorite although it is good. i have to go with showdown, just because they're finally together and you haven't seen all the fighting yet and it gives you some sort of hope that maybe, just maybe it might work out

I Do And Adieu is my favorite. It's just so beautiful. That's one of my favorite episodes. I haven't seen Uncle Sam Wants You or An Old Fashioned Wedding, but I also liked Showdown and Strange Bedfellows. My least favorite season final from the Diane years is probably Rescue Me. I thought the story to be decent, it just wasn't executed in the best way. You know? I also thought that I'll Be Seeing You was so depressing. Besides the series finale and the two I haven't seen, my favorite final from the Rebecca years is Cry Harder. My least favorite is The Visiting Lecher. It didn't have a cliffhanger.

Well I guess Maria said it best way back in 2003 about I Do Adieu so it got my vote. Showdown is definitely second though. Besides, who really wants to see Sam and Rebecca as a couple? It's just wrong. Just compare the pictures!

I'm also guessing that Mikado wants a Cheers reunion and have Sam and Diane finally be together. If so, I'm right with you!

Showdown, Part 2 is just so damn funny. The episode appears to play out in real time after the opener. The whole thing after the 2nd commercial break as Diane ping-pongs in and out of the office is hysterical and the classic Sam-Diane confrontation of the entire series is a riot. Plus the biggest laugh of all 11 years happens when Sam opens the office door to 20 people eavesdropping. The hands down winner.
