Today KISW is playing the top 99 songs by bands who were famous for only one significant hit! They just played, "Save Me" by the Canadian band the Tea Party, who really were a cool psychedelic band about ten years ago, "Walking Shoes" by Tora Tora, who had a sexy album and a bluesy sound, and--"Seventeen" by Winger ONLY at 97??
Not only did they have more hits than that, but at least they deserve to be higher.

I wouldn't personally consider these one-hit wonders. They all released songs afterwards, some of which were better than those listed to me. Tantric also released "Mourning", which is way better in my opinion, than "Breakdown." Papa Roach released "She Loves Me Not" which was pretty popular around here. But I guess it didn't get as much airplay other places as "Last Resort." Hoobastank came out with several other songs off of Hoobastank. They released "Running Away", which I thought was also as popular as "Crawling in the Dark." Eve 6 is definately a shocker! "Here's to the Night" was a huge graduation song. And they've released "Think Twice" recently which was pretty popular, or so I thought. |

That list was like a Who's Who of "Hair Bands."
Winger! Just when I blocked those guys out of my mind.

I would say If You Could Only See was actually a bigger hit for them Originally posted by Captain ABlairica #--Band--Song 61 WARRANT CHERRY PIE
WHAT?!!?!? Heaven? (which peaked at #2 on the hot 100) Down Boys? I Saw Red? They had several big hits circa 89-91 Originally posted by Captain ABlairica #--Band--Song 50 UGLY KID JOE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU
Cats In The Cradle Originally posted by Captain ABlairica #--Band--Song 38 BLUR SONG # 2
Girls And Boys was a hit, not a rock hit, but a hit nonetheless. In the UK, these guys have had several #1 hits. Originally posted by Captain ABlairica #--Band--Song 27 SILVERCHAIR TOMORROW
Pure Massacre? They also had a single in 99 that I can't remember offhand that was about the lead singers anorexia Originally posted by Captain ABlairica #--Band--Song 26 EUROPE FINAL COUNTDOWN
The "Final Countdown" album had a lot of hits. Great video for that song too Originally posted by Captain ABlairica #--Band--Song 11 FILTER HEY MAN NICE SHOT
Take A Picture was a huge single. Jurassitol from The Crow 2 also did well. Originally posted by Captain ABlairica #--Band--Song 1 TOADIES POSSOM KINGDOM
did they ever record a second album? |

I think what KISW was looking for was one song by certain artists that when you think of the band, you immediately think of that song, even though they technically had other hits.

I'd also say Here's The The Night probably eclipsed Inside Out in popularity for Eve 6. and some others that have been said also. To me a "rock one hit wonder" would be Nada Surf and Popular. They did other songs that didn't do much, and if people think of them, 99 out of 100 people would say Popular if they remember them. |
