I had an expander (hurts like hell when you twist it) in like 4th grade...then in 5th I got partial braces for a little while...got those off for awhile, then in 7th I got full braces, and got them off in the beginning of 8th grade last year...then I had to wear a retainer all day, that sucked, and now now I have to wear it just at night.

It'll never end

I have braces right now. At first, I had a palette expander, too, and turning the key was AWFUL! That was for about six months. Right now, I have headgear on top of the braces that I have to wear at night. I'm getting rid of that in two days. My braces should be off in about 10 months.

Later.

Yep, but you have a beautiful grin to prove it

As for me....I got lucky. I've never had to wear braces, but my siblings have had to. My older brother had braces when he was 11 and only had them for a year to correct his overbite...he doesn't have one anymore My older sis was quite a case...She had braces starting in 4th grade, wore them up to 5th grade then had them taken off in 6th grade AND had to wear them again for 7th and 8th grade....Both times were full braces...She had really crooked teeth... She had her braces taken off at the end of her 8th grade year...and now she has the LOVELIEST smile to show for all those years of wearing braces.

I had braces from the 9th grade through the 11th grade. I agree that they suck! Along with my braces I had to have jaw surgery on my bottom jaw. Braces are a piece of cake compared to that.

My daughter will have to have braces. She's had TWO frenectomies as well so far and has to have a 3rd. I'd like to put the braces off though for a couple more years until she loses some of her back teeth.

i had braces for a year in 3rd grade. then, in 7th grade, i got them again for 2 years. wore a retainer (not really) and then i had to get a new one. now, i had to get another new one, becuase the ******** ortho. said one of my tooth turned in a little (which is stupid, becuase it's always been like that). ugh! he's annoying. and this retainer doesn't fit right, i'm supposed to fit into it, within a couple of months. and it hurts.

i never wore my rubber bands...at all. it was too annoying. lol.

and the expander...i think i had that on my tooth that i talked about above. metal spiral thingy right? that he put into the wire? oh man, that scraped up against my lip so much. and it hurt too.

I had braces from June 1999 till around spring of 2002. I still wear my retainer. I keep trying to remember to get my mother to make an appointment to see the orthodontist but I keep forgetting. I wish I wouldn't have to wear the retainer anymore.

I had braces from the end of 4th grade to the middle/end of 7th. I got used to them quickly, I actually didn't mind them. I have a beautiful smile now
