I don't know if this is a Thanksgiving movie, but TQS in Montreal aired the Extended 4 Hour Version of Dances With Wolves, on the Canadian Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Even though they are Christmas films but came out before and during Thanksgiving, Home Alone both 1 & 2.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Home Alone and Home Alone 2. I don't consider those two Thanksgiving movies though.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. The scene at the airport was sooo funny!

I watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles on the day before Thanksgiving every year. It still holds up. The scene at the airport with Edie McClurg was very funny. I'm glad our censoring system works.
Another good one set around Thanksgiving is Dutch (1991). It was written by John Hughes and stars Ed O'Neill and Ethan Embry. It was a box office bomb, but it has become a cult favorite. It's hard to find on DVD/Blu-ray and doesn't show up on streaming very often it seems. |

Planes Trains And Automobiles
Blood Rage (1987) "That's not cranberry sauce!" is one of the killer's lines. Not a favorite, but there's also the early 80s Thanksgiving slasher Home Sweet Home starring Jake Steinfeld, and the film debut of Vinessa Shaw (who would go on to star in Hocus Pocus), but it does have an excellent tagline: This year, it's not the turkey being carved for Thanksgiving |
