Some of the sharp-eyed folk among you might have noticed that earlier today we added this listing to our site, for a Newsradio Season 1 & 2 DVD set. Yes, that's right! For those of you that didn't notice it, though, we decided to mention it here as well. After all, this is big stuff!

The folks at Columbia haven't actually announced this yet (heck, they haven't even announced an announce date for their press release). But Amazon.com is now listing Newsradio Seasons 1 & 2 in a single box set for a February 3, 2004 street date. Per Amazon, the list price is $39.95 (though they currently discount it to $27.97 for preorders). No other details are provided yet, though. You can preorder right now at this link, and help support our site in the process. But also stay tuned right here, because we'll have the official announcement, specs, and cover art for you the day that Columbia Home Entertainment officially issues it.

Great. That's not too far from now. And I'm glad it's seasons 1 and 2. That will hold me over until the next season comes out. Because I would have gotten tired of the first seven episodes over and over again for months. After a tough day at work, this is great news to come home to.

Thanks for the heads-up! I've posted the news at the Fanfic Archive as well. Keep spreading the word! We want the sales to convince Sony that the rest of the series is worth putting on DVD as well! :-)

i was just on amazon.ca and they dont have a price yet, but you can pre-order it. i think im just going to go into a store the day it comes out and then buy it. its going to be great.

on the amazon.ca website under Cast List everyone is listed, but beside Beth's name is says 1995-1999, but she was on the same length as everyone else.. i find it very strange, because shes the only one out of the original cast that has something beside their name.

Hi. I'm confused about the release of the 1st & 2nd season DVD. I, too, spied it on amazon.com for preorder for 27.97 and promptly placed it in my "save for later" cart, thinking I would move it up to order when it got closer to the 2/3/04 release date. However, the next day when I looked at my cart, I noticed that it said "out of stock" under the title, and now it is saying "NewsRadio - The Complete 1st & 2nd Seasons (1995): Availability: NOT YET RELEASED: The studio is currently not producing this title on DVD, but to be notified when it is available, enter your e-mail address at right. You'll also be voting for this release; we'll let the studio know how many customers are waiting for this title." Does anyone know what gives? The previous post directed me to an amazon preorder site, but I see that is for amazon.ca for the Canadian import version. I was so excited when I first saw it for preorder as I have been waiting and waiting, but now I am just downright puzzled.

Even though it was up for pre-order early (see our story here) the studio - Columbia - had not yet announced this title for release. This morning that is rectified, and we have the cover art for you, for starters:

My uncle that works for Sony was gonna get this for me for free.
But now I suppose.... its not coming for a while.

Im suprised nobody on these boards has made a post ranting about how upset they are.

I'm upset that it's been delayed. I was really looking forward to it coming out February 3rd. However, since it's being delayed in order to make better bonus features (Commentaries, Behind the scenes featurette, gag reel, etc..), it's hard to be as upset. I check tvshowsondvd.com everyday waiting for an update on the release.
