I'm sorry to hear about Art Carney's death. He was a truly gifted comic actor. Carney made Ed Norton absolutely endearing. Now there's something I'm wondering about. When I read about Carney's passing in my local newspaper it claimed that he's the last honeymooner to die. It said Joyce Randolph died in 1998 but I can't find anything on the web about her death. IMDb makes no mention of a death date nor does any other source. Could the newspaper be wrong?

That doesn't sound right... (about Joyce Randolph having passed away)...
I know that during the last couple of years, there have been some specials on TV talking about the Honeymooners, and both Art Carney and Joyce Randolph appeared on these shows... Jackie Gleason passed away in 1987 and Audrey Meadows passed away in 1996, but I'm pretty sure that Joyce Randolph is still alive. That is, I'm sure I've seen her talk about the Honeymooners more recently than 1998... In fact, it seems to me that she (Randolph) and Art Carney appeared on a TV show together sometime during the last couple of years... However, I should point out that, having read a number of stories on Carney's death today, I have not seen Joyce Randolph quoted in any of the stories I've seen... I did see a couple of quotes from Marilyn Gleason, Jackie's wife, but I've seen no current quotes from Randolph...seems like she'd be a natural person to talk to about Carney, but I've seen nothing from her... One thing that I didn't realize about Art Carney...he actually took part in the D-Day Normandy Invasion on 6/6/44...amazing that he should pass away on Veterans Day... I've never seen the movie for which Carney received an Oscar, but I did see him in "Going in Style" with George Burns and Lee Strassburg....great movie...Carney and Burns were both superb! Try to see it if you get a chance... Thank you, Art Carney, for your service to your country, and for being the greatest 2nd banana ever!!! |

I had the honor of meeting Joyce Randolph at a recent autograph show (about a year ago). She looked great...God bless her, she was so sweet, sharing great Honeymooners stories with my wife and me.

Thanks for the great pic, Cocopug! She doesn't look a day older than when I saw her in the mid eighties!
