I,ve always found Ralph and Ed to be remarkabley simular,in both personality and appearance,to Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Many people seem to agree. But I know Audrey Meadows, for one, couldn,t disagree more. The way Ralph often gives Ed a shove of disapproval.Ollie would do the very same thing to Stan. Not to mention,Ed occasionally gives a whimpering cry, simular to that of Stan,s famous crying routine.Although they do have their fare share of notable differences as well. For one thing,Ollie seemed to be a lot nicer towards his occasional movie wives than Ralph was towards Alice.Ed isn,t quite as dimwitted as Stan. For the most part,Stan and Ollie seem slightly more laid back than Ralph and Ed.But Ralph and Ed appear as best friends.Whereas Ollie seems more like Stan,s mommie and daddy,so to speak.Devoted to guide Stan every step of the way.I realise that lots of famous comedians barrowed half of their techniques from Laurel & Hardy. They were an inspiration to many people.

True - it's hard to deny the fact that they were similar in appearence and sometimes in temperment. I think Art Carney sometimes purposely imitated Laurel, and Gleason did act like Hardy on occasion, especially when he expressed annoyance at Norton.

Abbott & Costello seem to also have a fair bit in common with Laurel & Hardy.Though I also find Lou Costello to sound a lot like Ralph Kramden when he yells.
