The Lucy Connection

Even though both The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy were black and white shows,I,ve seen all four actors of each show in colour elsewhere[in other tv shows or movies].I,ve noticed certain things the cast of The Honeymooners appear to have in common with the cast of I Love Lucy.Definetly not their personalities.But Ralph Kramden and Ricky Ricardo both had dark hair.While Alice and Lucy were both red heads.Fred Mertz sometimes wore a hat,the same way Ed Norton did.And Trixie and Ethel were both blondes.Interesting parrellel.Might just have been a coincidence though.I,m aware that The Honeymooners was not only set in New York City,but made there as well.Unlike I Love Lucy,which was made in Desi and Lucy,s very own Desilu Studios in Hollywood.One other thing both shows appeared to have in common,was some of their episode situations.For instance,there was an episode of The Honeymooners,where Ralph and Ed battled over a new TV set.While in an episode of I Love Lucy,the Ricardos had their own battle with the Mertzes over a brand new TV set.And I vaguely remember an episode of The Honeymooners,where Ralph did a TV commercial with hilariosly disastros results.Who could forget the I Love Lucy episode where Lucy hilariously flunked at doing a TV commercial.Both shows came out during the same period.I guess they shared the same basic formula.
