Decade Estimate - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I have tuned into this show ever since it first aired.Plus I,ve videotaped just about every show and added it to my ever expanding vhs library.When the series first debuted in August 1998,the show itself was set during the fall of 1976.Which means that their debut season 1998/99,would have been set during the 1976/77 season.Making the second season 1977/78.After that 1978/79,and so on.So realistically,their latest season would be 1981/82.But I understand how things are in sitcomland.If the series is still titled"That 70s Show",than it would still be the 1970s on the show.Naturally.I know there was recently another series titled"That 80s Show" naturally set during the 1980s.But that show flopped in no time at all.

I think that the show would be better if they would just do the years like they are suppose to be...1981 wouldn't be that bad. I agree that since the show is called "That 70s Show" it would be weird to go into the 80s but it is just as weird to keep Eric 17 for 2 years....If they'd a only started the show in an earlier 70s year then it'd of worked out.......

As you get older, you can make time slow down. My wife has been 29 for two years now.

One thing I noticed about tonight's latest episode,is that the end of the licence plate we see at the end of every episode now reads 79.Meaning that they're are now in the year 1979.It seems that for at least two years or more,it was 1978 on the show itself.You know what I mean?I have to agree with you Bad Company,if their debut season had been set earlier in the 70s,like say 1972 or 73,perhaps it would have worked better.
