Thumbs down So I got stranded tonight...

My hubby and I wanted to get a couple of beers right quick in town. It's about 7 miles to town from our house. So we are in town and the car just dies. It was dark and I was kind scared. He tried to get it started a few min by checking the fuses and stuff. But it didn't work so finally we walked to the nearest gas station. Which was around the block. Just my luck I wore slip on sandals anyway we finally got a friend of ours to answer the phone. She brought us home where we got our other car and towed the dead car home. It's so good to be home

Have you guys ever been stranded? Doesn't it feel great when you get home?

I'm glad you both made it home safely!

The same thing has happened to me three times in the last 10 years, all three times while I was on the freeway. Luckily, it only happened once in the middle of the night when I was driving back into town.

I had a tire blow out on the interstate...on a damn off ramp. I was never so scared in my life. I waited a half hour for my dad to come rescue me. Fortunately it was about 1pm.

My car that caught fire was a pice of crapola (not that that needs to be said). In August I had to fly to California for work and I was on the interstate, nearly 1.5 hours away from the airport when the car just DIED. It was in a huge traffic jam due to road work and I had no way out of there. I was definitel on a time schedule because my flight left at 8:10. I called my best friend who raced to get me. She sat in the traffic for almost an hour and I BARELY made the flight....when you see people in movies running to their plane, like in Home Alone? That was my daughter and I.

It was hot, I had my 8 year old with me alone and we were stranded on the Interstate (I-80) alone with hundreds of cars sitting there in a traffic jam.

Very scary.

The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

2nd or 3rd week of nail school (in September) we got out at 9:30 pm and before then it was POURING and floods everywhere. Blah blah blah.. my car wouldnt start. Battery died. I have no cell phone (fun stuff) because Im cheapness. But anyways I reached my parents and they came at like.. 10:45. I stayed in the car with Julie until they came.

Sheesh, that sucks. Glad you made it home okay MonarC

I've gotten stranded - a few times actually. My car died last summer in the middle of a rainstorm - half an hour before my final exam... that wasn't fun. All of the phone lines were out because of the storm, but as luck would have it, my car was parked right in front of a Sprint store and the girls there let me use one of the display phones to call my mom - so she could drive over and wait for the toe-truck while I stole her car to go take a test... oh that was not a good day

The scariest for me though was when I got stuck at Detroit Metro Airport coming back from Germany during the blackout - it was 3am my time and all the flights were cancelled. I got VERY lucky that my flight was reinstated (four hours later). It's not fun.
