Question What if this show started 1 year earlier.....

Okay....lets pretend this show began in 1980.

Pretend Episode Guide:

1.)Gertrude the Goldfish- The family decides to get a pet goldfish and name it Gertrude. Nell accidently overfeeds it and it dies after Sam gets attached to it. Nell says that it happens to a lot of fish and she buys her another Gertrude to replace her with and also the topic of Margaret comes up, since Sam has never witnessed a death before since her mother died and Nell has to confort her and the family who are struck by it.

2.)Sam's Jaw's Obsession- Sam is obsessed when Nell allows her to watch JAWS when the Chief forbids her to.

3.)Sam Gets Braces- Sam doesn't want to get braces for fear kids will make fun of her in school. Nell tells her braces give more to "JAWS" and bite worse, and Sam is ok with them.

4.)Katie's Clique- Katie joins a clique of snotty, ditzy girls called the "Pink Ladies" and the Chief cant accept her new attitude, but Nell tries to make him understand that she is growing up and thats what older girls act like when they go to high school.

5.)Uncle Ed and the Singles Bar- Uncle Ed decides to go to a singles bar and meets a woman who likes him, yet when she finds out his profession, she leaves him. Ed thinks of leaving the mortician buisness, but Nell and the family tell him that soon he will find the right one who will like him for who he is, and the profession he has, and Nell sets him up with a woman who likes everyone for who they are, and Ed is happy and decides to keep the profession.

6.)Grandpa Goes to Poland- When Grandpa tells the family he is going to Poland, Grandma wants to go, and she thinks he is goign there to leave her since he wants to go alone. He leaves and goes to Poland while Grandma stays at home. Grandpa went to poland to get something for Grandma, since it was their 40th anniversary.

7.)Julie's I.Q Test- Julie takes an IQ test and when the school sees how smart she is they want her to go to a prep school upstate. When she decides to try it out, she learns that it is not for her sincde everyone is snotty and Katie-like, yet they dont like her, unlike Katie and her family who are accepting and she would pick them over snotty studious girls anyday.

8.) Katie The Alcohilic- Kaite sneaks a drink at the Chief's bar in the livingroom and Nell catches her. They keep it between one another and then Katie, behind everyone's back drinks a little more. When the Chief sees this he gets mad and Katie says that she only had a sip and not a whole glass, which was the honest truth and all is forgiven since the Chief was mis-interpreting things.

9.) Julie the Middle Child- Julie becomes mad that she is neglected since she is the middle child since Nell is all over Sam being cut and Katie being sexy, while she is dumb old geeky Julie. Nell must try to make it so Julie gets more attention from now on with her as with everyone else.

10.) Sam Runs Away- After being told the Cheif hates Samafter she accidently ruins her dead mothers last picture ever taken with her baseball in the house, She runs away. The Cheif sets out to find her and in the end is successful, when she went to her mother's grave not far away from the house and he appologizes to her.

11.) Nell's Dirty Past- Nell gets a call from Tony, her ex-husband, and the gils find out how she met him in a flashback episode of when they met, to when he left her and thats how she became a singer and met Margaret and then decided to raise the girls after she died.

12.) Bowling Night- The Chief takes the family bowling in a hilarious episode where Nell, Ed, Sam, Katie, and Julie, all get strike after strike as the Chief bolws the worst game ever and as nell leaves to go to the bathroom he gets a strike and when she comes back he rolls a gutter. He tells Nell she ginxed him. In the end, Nell's team, consisting of Sam and Katie win against Carl's Team of Ed, Carl and Julie.

13.) Tomboy Sam- Sam is called a Tomboy and wants to know what that means. Nell explains to Sam what it is and she cries thinking that even though she likes male things she isn't a boy. Nell lets Sam and everyone else see that it is okay to like male things if you are female, and female things if you are male.

"While Nell's Away"

Hearing that her father is ill and possibly dying, Nell returns to Alabama while she leaves Angie in charge of the house while she's away. Being inept at running the house, Angie misplaces the chief's gun, ruins dinner, and lets Katie skip school on a Friday after she convinces Angie that it's her birthday and students are permitted to take the day off on their birthday.
