Default Just my two cents!!

I think the show would have been better served being the normal half hour!! It was just waaaaaay too depressing...I mean anybody watching last night was mourning John Ritter all over again...Even though they had a million tributes already!!! THey were not mourning the character he played... I also think they should have started the show with him being dead already because it was a forgone conclusion!! And explained it as they went... I would have turned the channel had my wife not forced me to keep it on...... Just seemed like too much down time in the show that they forced these issues...And when characters are killed off on shows why do they always have violent deaths. GETTING MILK?? retired milkmen everywhere are crying " I TOLD YOU THEY SHOULD HAVE KEPT US AROUND"

I hope they can move on But How.??? Ritter made this show.....I mean HOW can it go on?? What possible story lines can they come up with to even match the title?? I just hope the whole series this year is not cashing in on John's death by just mourning a fictional character all year....The show's days are numbered!!

Default Last John Ritter Episode

This was a very nice tribute to John Ritter, and yes, was very sad
He would have been so proud of his tv "family" last night,
it was an hour long for the cast to be able to grieve, this was important so that they could all move forward.
Kudos to all of them, and John, may you rest in peace, you will be forever missed by all...My thoughts to all of you in 8 simple rules,
the show was so enjoyable to watch, and it will be missed.

I think its only fair that you put your two cents in, but did I miss something in the episode that you saw? You mentioned why do they always kill people off of shows with a violent death.?

They stated that he was getting milk, but they also stated that he collapsed in aisle 3. Nothing made it sound any more violent then the way he really passed on. It was not really mentioned why he collapsed. Also, I dont think it was the going to get the milk that made him die, I think if he collapsed you could also have made the show where he was at work or at home and collapsed. It was a vague description of his death and a vague similarity to his unfortunate death.

Please let me know if I missed a part of the show, I did miss the first few minutes, but I understand that it wasnt until after the first commercial break that they find out he is dead.

I am not bitching or complaining I am asking a sincere question and please continue to put your opinion on this board that's what it's here for.

Hmmm? You know what..I do remember the aisle 5 comment....I did not Tivo or video tape the show so it is possible I could be mistaken... But I could almost swear there was some reference to a auto wreck!! I kinda got lost watching it...THe show was really starting to annoy me...I was sad to hear of John's passing..But I really don't need to watch TV and spend a WHOLE hour depressed.....Plus my wife sobbing while watching did not help..

I just get this ugly feeling that the whole series is going to cash in on Ritter's memory!!! and that the series is hardly going to be a sitcom anymore.

No, there was no auto wreck. He was in the store and collapsed in aisle 3. If it annoyed you soooooo much, why did you continue to watch it, just cause your wife was? I don't think the producers are looking into cash in on Ritter's memory. I do think the show will go on with a fantastic cast no less.

Well I dont know if you are a male.or married...But sometimes your wife nags you to spend time with her!! Any married man can relate..

95% of that fantastic cast was John Ritter!! The show died with John...

And nobody in Hollywood has ever cashed in on a misfortune of a celebrity before aye?? Maybe the producers aren't wittingly...I just hope it doesn't come to it is all I said..

Yes, I'm married, but I'm the wife. Ya, Ya, Ya, we nag. Anyways, I asked my husband to watch it, but he doesn't really get into things like that.

I hope it doesn't come to the producers cashing on it either. That would be really sad. And I do agree that John was most of the show, but hopefully they will be able to keep it going for his memory and for the rest of the cast.

It was a funny show..It just won't survive...All you have to ask yourself is "Would Three's Company have survived without John"? The answer is no...And their supporting cast was much much better!! The next show will tell alot about where the show is going..So I guess we should stay tuned...I will give it one more shot myself!! I just don't want a depressing sitcom...The whole gimmick of the show was the "Paul " character and dealing with his daughter's dating!!

P.S. I hope I am wrong...I just don't see it!!

Now that you put it that way, about 3's Company, I guess it is something to think about. God, I hope not though. In one sense I can see it making it for this season anyway, but in another, how do you bring comedy back for a show with such a drastic change and loss. It's gonna definitly be a challenge for the cast with their emotions so close to home.
I don't know... we can only hope for the best I guess.
