I don't own a dvd recorder.

But what you are speaking of is a combo player- which is a dvd PLAYER and VHS player/recorder.
You can record your dvds on vhs with it, but not the other way around.

Unless it is described as a DVD recorder.

AcidBurnz1107, you can't do it if your dvd player just plays and doesn't record, you can't transfer your vhs tapes just because it's a combo. As for transferring, I use a set-top Panasonic dvd recorder and there's no extra equipment necessary for that, you'd just make an ordinary connection from the vcr to the dvd recorder. I haven't worked with computer dvd burners but I assume it would be a similar set up in terms of simply connecting a vcr. S-video/optical cable connections might be the only adjustments you might have to figure out.

Default converting dvd to vhs

run rca plug out from dvd player into a vcr . If you are dubbing retails invest in a video stabilizer. Other wise you will get red lines on your tapes from dvd copyguards. The dvd/vcr combos the only one you can record dvd to vhs is the SHARP & TOSHIBA
all the rest dont let you record from dvd to vhs. I went through many rentals trying each model out.Phillips are the worst. Had so many problems with. The toshiba is fantastic . Runs smooth plays all formats except divx. Best combo on the market. It also has many great features others do not.

So if you want to convert dvd to vhs. Just play from A dvd player run rca into stand alone vcr & record that way.

You purhase a graphics capture card, such as The ATI All In Wonder (just an example) for your pc. To make it worth your time, your pc should have over 2 GHZ processor. You will need a dvd burner drive for your pc as well, or a cd burner, if you're going to make vcds. The installed card allows a tv, vcr/dvd player, or cable box to be plugged in to the back of your pc and you can record whatever.

what kind of card you can buy will depend on whether your pc has agp or pci connectors inside. If you just drag your tower somewhere like best buy, they can open it up and look, then sell you a card, and install it right there.
