don't remember too much but it was a case of a young girl (18-22) who was making a phone call at a telephone booth late at night to her bf..........a man approached the telephone booth and grabbed her, the bf quickly drove to the location and saw the man driving away in a green pickup truck with a fish like moral painting on his back window.........the bf followed the man until his tire got a flat do any of you remember this case? what ended up happening?

That was Angela Hammond, 20, kidnapped in Clinton, Missouri on April 4, 1991.
Neither Angela or the guy who took her has been found, although there were sightings in many states and Canada, and police figured that a murder and a disappearance from the area in the weeks prior were related. It's quite the popular case to discuss here, isn't it? That and the Tara Calico and Tami Leppart cases are probably the most talked about UM missing persons cases. |

honestly i am brand new to this board but wow am i glad to find it. I am a UM junkie! Maybe i should change my accounting major to broadcast journalism so i can continue this show in a few years now that Stack has died!
That case sticks out to me more than any other case, i think it was because of the ugliness of the guy that played the abductor........ |

I've seen that segment and it's so haunting. Angela was innocently making a phone call (which many of us do) and got abducted and was never seen again. makes me wonder what kind of animals are out there taking people away from thier loved ones.

I´ve never seen this segment but i've read about it a lot of times here. I got a question, Angela´s boyfriend was ruled out as a suspect? he was the only witness of her dissapearance, and his story sounds too much of a thriller movie scene.

I don't know about that. Some pretty strange things happen in real life. Dru Sjodin and her cell phone would make a good made-for-TV movie too, but it was all confirmed, that's exactly how it happened.

I've also wondered about this case.
Recently, I found some possible info relating to the case of Angela Hammond by searching the Usenet groups via www.deja.com. Click on the link for more info. Sadly, she is be believed to have been murdered by convicted serial killer Kenneth McDuff. McDuff was executed in Texas November, 1998. Unfortunately, McDuff was convicted of the death penalty before in 1972. The sentence was later commuted to life with parole. He was released and is believed to have killed at least 3 people (including Angela Hammond) before finally being convicted of another murder and finally being executed. http://groups.google.com/groups?q=cl...aol.com&rnum=1 |

Interesting thing from that link:
One of McDuff's known victims was Colleen Reed who disappeared from an Austin car wash in 1991. Even though I haven't seen the episode or the segment myself, UM aired her case on April 29, 1992, roughly around the time they aired Angela's case (haven't been able to find the exact date from the guide, although it does list when the segment was re-aired - August 26, 1992). An eerie crossover of sorts. |

I'd almost forgotten about the Colleen Wood mystery.
I wonder why they suspect McDuff of the killings in Missouri? Everytime I go through Nevada, Mo., I always think of the UM segment because one of the other women profiled in Angela Hammond's case was from Nevada. |

I agree that these cases are creepy. We should also learn from them.
Don't ever use a payphone or a car wash at night, especially in a dark, deserted area of the city. I also don't visit ATM machines after dark anymore, either, even if they are drive-up. Protect yourself. |

Very good points. Since I've started watching Unsolved Mysteries, I too have become more security conscience and aware of my surrounds and avoiding certain situations that could possibly be risky. I always lock my windows and doors when I'm home. I live in a very safe area, but you never know.
