I recently watched this episode on DVD. I hadn't seen it in a long time and didn't remember it as a particular favorite, but it was so funny! Seeing Mel do "The Twizzle" was worth it alone! I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Jerry Lanning who played Randy Twizzle? He did seem to have a really great singing voice and I've never heard of him before. Was he a successful singer at all? Anyway, I really liked this episode and am now up to the two-parter with Jerry Van Dyke as Stacy--can't wait to see them!

A really quick web search on Jerry's name revealed this page:http://www.ibdb.com/person.asp?id=71494 , but it is specific to Broadway. I'm sure there's more info out there.

Jerry Lanning appeared in the NBC soap opera Texas, which was a spinoff of Another World, aired in the early '80s. You can see him in the opening credits from the show at the great soap opera site www.wost.org , which has videos and theme songs from several past and current soap operas.

Thanks for the info! It seems he worked on broadway and in several soap operas. I'm surprised he didn't have a bigger singing career!
