Allie Lowell vs. Mary Albright - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Just curious...what character does everyone prefer Jane as? Even though I love this show and Allie, I personally prefer Mary Albright just a little better. Even though she was given very little screen time on "3rd Rock", when she was she always lit up the screen, and was aloud to be a lot more loud-mouthed, raunchy and happy-go-lucky than the placid Allie could ever have gotten away with. What does everyone think?

I'm quite torn as I love both characters, but I would def have to say Allie, cos of the situation is far more down to earth and you can identify more with Allie than Dr Albright. You can see how Allie grows through each situation she encounters. She more than Kate actually developed as a character as each season wore on. It turned full circle, where Kate was once the dominant character, to Allie being equal and much more vocal, while Kate seemed to almost take a step backwards.

I loved Jane on SNL... she had some great work there. I wish she was back on television...

Yeah, she did.

I loved her on SNL.

That's one of my favorites, too. Between her playing Allie or Mary, I'm going with Allie.
