Question Ouch! I got slammed over eye color

Someone (though I don't think they're from this board) just let me have it for describing Jo's eye color as green. (Really! they said I was "so stupid" and "should pay better attention to my sitcoms.")

To keep from always refering to the characters by their proper names in fanfics, I look for little ways to tell you who is speaking or acting with clues like eye color, hair color, stuff like that.

Since our characters happen to look like some real life actresses... I think Nancy has green eyes. (Sometimes bluer, sometimes greener -- depends.) Mindy's are green, too. Lisa and Kim's are brown.

Does that sound about right to everyone? Am I completely offbase with that? <grin>

Jo's eyes are definitely green, you were right about that one. On top of just LOOKING green, I've even read articles that say they are. But, although I've never noticed you putting it in your fanfic, I think Nat's eyes are blue. I seem to remember one or 2 occasions during the show where they were referred to as blue. I would never call you on it in a fan fiction because it's really not that big of a deal. And of course, Blair and Tootie have brown eyes. Well, Blair's are "brown with green and gold flecks" but you get the idea.

I think you are right. Nancy McKeon's eyes have always looked green to me. Maybe they are more hazel though, I'm not sure. Really, I think your writing is very good. Do not let it bother you. I can't believe someone would insult you because of a mistake in eye color. It is not like a charcter's eye color effects the plot of the story or something. Just keep up the good work!

And I thought I had to deal with some petty people!! (You can borrow my oar to knock them upside the head if you want after I finish with some people! Crew can get nasty and not just weather conditions. They're called "hatchet" blades....) Anyway, if they watched the Division with it's much better film quality you would definitely notice that Nancy's eyes are green. I love your descriptions too.

TVaddict, FactsFan and lesliem14 --

Thanks for agreeing with me! *Whew!* For a minute there, I thought I needed to have my vision tested. <grin>

You're right, TVaddict, how could I have *ever* forgotten the "green and gold flecks!" LOL!

Thanks for the encouragement, FactsFan. I won't let the comments worry me. (It cracks me up that someone would call me names just because they disagreed with something I wrote! <shakes head in disbelief> )

Of course, it is important to keep my options open. Hmmm? lesliem14, I may need to borrow that oar sometime! <big grin> Thanks for the offer!

They called you names? That's ridiculous. That's like freaking out over a typo in a great story. What's the point? Maybe this person sees the need to find something wrong in everything they see, and that was all they could come up with. Anyway, I'm sure this won't stop you from writing, so I can't wait to read what happens next.

Thumbs down

Yeah... let's bash some heads.... It's been a long week and I'm looking to take it out on someone. Anyone picking fights with the best writer on this board is an excellent target.

BlairW_2 -- Someone who chose to review a story of mine on the www.fanfiction.net site felt the need to call me stupid. I don't think it's anyone who hangs out around here... so there shouldn't be any cause for alarm.

I mentioned it here to get some feedback on both the topic of the criticism and the manner in which it was delivered. As I suspected, the great folk on this board have had comments of support for what I wrote and share my disbelief at the tacky way my critic chose to voice their opinion.

I appreciate the vote of confidence and your willingness to rally the militia! Hopefully, my little critic has done all they can do. <grin>

Coily - Lol!

Devon King - Well, if its not on this board theres nothing we can do about it, which you said..

But your fanfictions are, IMO amazing - dont let a peice of critisizm over an eye color let you down.
