Default 10/23 ep - The One With The Cake

Just thought I'd start a thread for everyone to post their thoughts.

I was disappointed with this episode. For one thing I thought that it was really out of character for Monica to not want to be there for Emma's birthday. Monica loves kids and this is her niece's first birthday. And the cake thing was just dumb - I wasn't laughing.

The only redeeming part was Joey stealing Phoebe's birthday present idea and then doing it better than Phoebe.

Better than the other 3 episodes this season, still pretty bad.

Emma - annoying. Why didn't they wake her up?!

Mon & Chan - eh.

Phoebe - kind of creepy. She drugged her client?

Jack and Judy Gellar - funny. "They thought it was a hate crime!"

Joey - funny at times. "I do it every week with 3 cameras and a crew waiting!"; "Is it okay I still find it delicious?"

Ross and Rachel - ugh, I want to punch them. They (especially Rachel) were beyond annoying. They made everyone come to the party even though they all had work/vacation plans. And they didn't wake Emma up for a party that everyone went out of their way for. And they held everyone hostage when they went to get a new cake. And Rachel was yelling at a student driver even though she just got a ticket (great example to learn from ). And they went to get a new cake even though Ross could have easily made it into a bunny like he did at the end.

The erotic cake wasn't funny at all. Better luck next week.

Perhaps this is some plot for us all to turn on the show, or to be grateful that it's being cancelled, as well as to make us look forward to Joey's spin-off. Notice how the only really funny one so far this season has been Joey? Coincidence???

It was an okay episode...not the best ever. The cake wasn't that clever. But I have to say that the wind-up toy race was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I couldn't stop laughing! LOL you should've seen me...I was on the floor. I lost it when Monica & Chandler's dog kept stopping to wag its tail and do flips LOL it was just too much.

Yeah, I do agree with all of you. But if you really think about it, theres a reason why the new episodes arent as good as the previous ones. NBC, is after all ending Friends, and doing so would be hard if they keep on giving us better shows. You know what I mean.

I disagree I thought it was the best episode this season. I was laughing my behind off. come on a penis cake. And then the fact Joey wondered if it was odd that he still liked the cake despite the design of the cake.

i missed it the first time (my VCR wasn't working, i had orchestra reherasal, and my friend's VCR decided not to work, either), so i was glad when i watched the tape from last week and saw that they re-aired it. i think i found it funny mostly because i watched it at 2 AM...

I thought that it was pretty funny, but not as good as most.

The one thing that really bothered me about this episode was that Ben was not there. Ross and Rachel were so concerned about everyone being there and Ben was not even mentioned. Afterall he is Emma's brother. I've been wanting to voice this for awhile but my dear computer was messed up.

Sad TOW the Cake

That has always bugged me, too! Ever since Emma was born, they've only mentioned Ben once - at the hospital when Jack referred to Emma as his "first grandchild." Since then, it's like the little guy has vanished into thin air! One would think Ross especially would want Ben at his baby sister's first birthday party!

I also agree that Rachel should've woke Emma up, but I guess she may have learned her lesson about waking her up from TOW Emma Cries!!!

The birthday episode was lame, and it didnt get any better the other times it re-aired.
The wind up toys was funny but it still didnt help the episode much.
Rachel should have waken the baby up (even if she was going to cry) so that everyone else could get to work/vacations whatever.
I wouldnt want to have a baby with either Ross or Rachel it seems that they are never with their baby and Ross seems to have forgotten that he had a son. Whats up with their parenting skills?
And why would Rachel want to name a baby Emma, isnt that kind of close to Emily, Ross's ex wife?

Default Emma

The name was given to Rachel from Monica. If you remember, while they were still in the hospital, Ross and Rachel were introducing the baby as Delilah or Isabella and Rachel said she didn't look like either one of those names. Monica said she was going to name her baby Emma, if it was a girl and Rachel immediately liked that name, so Monica gave it to her.

Thank you springcreek for that information but no I do not remeber that episode, I missed most of the birth part of the show/season, so I never knew that but IMO I still think that Emma is a name close to Emily but whatever the show wants, doesnt matter you hardly see the baby anyway

I don't know about anybody else, but when I order a cake from a bakery or a grocery store bakery, I look at the cake to see how it looks even before leaving the counter!! You'd think Rachel would've done that but NOOOO. I guess then they wouldn't have a storyline. I did think it was funny that Joey thought it still looked good though.
