Default question

In 54-40 & Fight, Marcia and Greg come to the parents and say that they have decided their mom should choose what to buy with the stamps. Then after they find out the trading stamp company is going out of business, the next thing we see is the kids again discussing what they want to get with the stamps. Did TVLand cut out something there? Why the switch back to the kids deciding?

Hey Jack1000 and TV Guy, can you help me with this? I'm really curious.

Anyone, is this episode one that Columbia House has available uncut?

I could be wrong about this, but I think after the initial "rowboat vs. sewing machine" disagreements, they decided to pool all 94 books together to get something the whole family could enjoy, but everyone had different gift ideas and could not come to a unanimous decision (Carol: "this family had better make up its mind and fast!"). So Greg and Marcia reported back to Mike and Carol with the "rowboat or sewing machine" prospect once again and then tossed out the idea of a winner-take-all competition between the boys and the girls. They also had a hard time coming up with a competition fair to everyone, so Alice came up with the "house of cards" suggestion.

Actually, they are fighting over the sewing machine or rowboat so Mrs. Brady tells them to choose something that everyone can use and gives out 2 catalogs. Then Greg and Marcia come to the parents and tell them that they decided on something--that Mom should decide what to get. Mr. Brady agrees to that. Then Mr. and Mrs. Brady are at breakfast saying that they decided to wait to decide what to get. Alice breaks the news about the place closing and that's where I get confused. The next thing we see is the kids in their rooms trying to think of something everyone can use. Why would the place closing mean that the kids and not Mrs. Brady would have to decide what to buy? It's then that Greg and Marcia come to the parents in the den and tell them that they decided to have a winner-take-all contest.
