"Brian and Alex" Revisited - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

It's AMAZING....Now that I have FINALLY watched the episodes that established the "Brian and Alex" romance (episodes which NICK didn't show during the LAST "Wings" cycle), I am appreciating and enjoying these "Brian and Alex" episodes a LOT more than I did the first time around!

The first time I saw these "couple" episodes, I kept thinking to myself, "I just don't buy this at all....I can't see these two as a couple!", but now that I know the circumstances and situations leading up to the romance, I DO understand what their relationship was all about...and why serious, no-nonsense Alex was finally attracted to silly, goofy Brian.

I STILL don't think that the relationship brought out the best in Brian (he was DEFINITELY on Alex's "leash"), but the whole thing does make more sense to me now....just one more example of why "Wings" episodes need to be shown in the proper order...and with NO skipped episodes! (The series DOES have a certain "Soap Opera" quality about it!).

Pilotguy, I'm glad you finally got a chance to see those episodes. I always felt the Brian and Alex relationship came together well and the writers did a good job of setting it up. But how could you have possibily known that with the way Nick skipped so many episodes?

I still laugh at the way Alex changed Brian. Especially when Brian would chase after Alex after saying something wrong, "Honey, I didn't mean it."

But I realize why some hated that because it was a real change for the character. Still I think what happens alot is we as fans enjoy episodes or aspects of characters that we can relate to. For example, you mentioned how you related to the Helen/Joe storyline because it reminded you of some of the aspects of your own relationship with your wife.

Well, I have had several male friends that were independent and swore they would never do that (and I'd have to even include myself a little in that) and then they would get in a relationship and suddenly they would change. I've just seen that kind of thing happen so many times before with friends that I found Brians' actions not only realistic, but funny as well.
