I have mixed feelings about this show....
The first three seasons are my favorite because the family just had funny insulting lines that seem harmless. The insults were funny, but later on, they get overly-sarcastic where it doesn't get funny. Starting with the fourth season things go topsy-turvy and downhill from there, Becky meets Mark and moves out, Darlene fades to black and is ignoring everyone and just wants to be alone, Crystal marries Dan's father and has two or three of his children, and after that, the show is still funny but things are still skewed. I'm not too fond of the new Becky because she's just missing the quality of Lecy Goranson's "original" Becky. The last season is my worst season. It's too much fantasy, and the end of the show is very much a cliffhanger. I have recorded some of season one and two episodes and still laugh hard at my favorites: -The Conner's first Halloween episode -Becky and friend get drunk -Darlene gets her period -The Conners go to the mall for a whole Saturday -When Chip's family goes to the Conners for dinner (probably my all-time favorite!) I think the family was closer during the first season and then starts to drift apart later on.... When I think about the show Roseanne, I just think about the first three seasons, basically. Okay, that's enough babbling...

I'm the opposite. The first season seemed to be searching for something, maybe an angle... the second and third got progressively better, but the fourth is where the show really started to be me away.

I'm with Swedeace. I have only recently started watching Roseanne. I saw a few eps here and there over the years, but it was the Nick@Nite marathon that got me going. What impresses me about "Roseanne" is how the family is like a real family, but there is something about the first few seasons that appeals to me more, that 'reality'.
