Default Off To See The Wretched Great....But.

Guys,

I really think that "Off To See The Wretched" is a fine episode! If you want to see Clair Huxtable at her angriest. (and I mean...blatent anger) and one of the kids (Vanessa) at her most disobediant this is the episode!

The problem is that the beginning of the episode with Olivia calling that jokeline and the dialoge with Cliff, is wasted. I never cared for Olivia so maybe I have a negative bias. However, it would have been better if those first 8 minutes talked more about the plan of Vanessa going to the concert with her friends.

The best would have been to make this episode a two-part deal. The ending is powerful, but it needs a second parter to make it work! A second part would have had Clair/Cliff dealing with the terrible things that Vannessa had done with sneaking out to the concert, lieing about being at Susan's house, the issue with the stolen car, her friends irresponsibility in not filling out a police report, and would have dealt out a severe punishment! Clair's anger is too extreame for this episode to not have a second parter! Malcom (Theo) helped direct this episode with one of the series main directors and did a great job!!! (Except for that Olivia sequence) Had this been a two-parter, this could have won awards. It was excellent but could have been even better!

Yeah, I loved that episode, except for Olivia Smiva at the beginning. It didn't fit in to that episode.

Exactly. A second part was needed because we never Find out how Vanessa was punished for going to the Baltimore.-LOL

This was one of my least favorite episodes.
Vanessa was always my least favorite (especially when she got older)

She was the best in the first 2 seasons, and when Dabnus was around.
