Smile Facts of Life - rated TV "G"??

I couldn't believe that The Facts of Life was rated TV "G". I was 10 when the show first came out, and Mom and Dad would not let me watch it for the first couple of years. (That's what I get for growing up with a Southern Baptist family in Houston...LOL)

I guess for the late 70s, early 80s it was racy for the time, but NOW, any show on MTV makes The Facts of Life look like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

Smile

When TFOL was on USA in reruns, it was rated TVG on occasions and also was rated TVPG sometimes. I'd say in syndication on Nickelodeon it'll be rated G.

jleff - lol! My parents made me miss a couple of episodes during the original run as well I think that NBC originally aired some sort of "disclaimer" before a couple of them, including the Tootie-almost-becomes-a-prostitute one (sorry, forgot the title). Anyhow, my parents threw a big snit, and I wasn't allowed to watch it, because my mind was young and impressionable. Whatever. I bet they still don't know that I snuck into their room to watch it

Ahh, the good old days, where only the super rich had more than 2 tv sets

Red face

The episode, Talk, Talk, Talk is the only TVPG one I've noticed. I think that Victor being drunk, and that weirdo guy who Tootie thinks is trying to kill her was kind of rpugh.

it is funny how controversial shows like FOL, DS and TC were back in the day. Considering nowadays you have shows like Friends, and pay-cable series like Sex And The City and Queer As Folk. While I love all those shows, if some episodes of FOL were "controversial" in the 1980's, wonder what would've happened if S&TC or QAF would've been 15-20 years ago. LOL!!!

keep in mine that both S&TC and QAF are both shown on premium cable channels, and therefore have much more freedom than network tv. According to Family Life, the steamiest Network shows are:
Ally McBeal, Friends, Just Shoot Me, That '70s show and Will & Grace. Not sure if I agree with all of their choices (cough Dawson's Creek cough).....
So anyway, FOL is pretty tame now, but I guess in the '80s, FOL was pretty "Contriversal" (i know I spelled that wrong, but it's 3AM and I'm too tired/lazy to fix it...)
anyway, I've lost my train of thought...I am so tired and I am going to bed....
