After Charlotte Rae left the show at the end of season 7, Cloris Leachman stepped in as Beverly Ann. If you were involved in the production of FOL, would you have argued the need to replace Mrs. G or would you have argued that FOL could have continued w/o an older chaperone/friend? Given that the role of Mrs. G had changed by the end of season 6, (she was in fewer scenes & the focus had shifted more towards individual issues of one of the girls) the introduction of Beverly Ann added little to the show. The character (not Cloris as an actress) was awkward and never seemed to fit in. I think that FOL could have continued without Beverly Ann. Indeed it is hard to fill another person's shoes.

I think I would've just wanted the show to carry on solely with the 4 girls.

Excellent topic! Yes, I felt that the series would have been a little stronger if it had continued without a new mother figure. After all, all 4 girls were now of college age, and didn't really need a guardian.

Exactly, I agree, the show would of been fine just with the four girls moving on by themselves.
And they should of kicked Andy out on the street in the process

I agree I think they should have just let the girls go out on there owns w/o a gardian.

I think the show would have done OK without a mother figure/gurdian whatever you want to call it. But it must have been a tough call. After all the show was supposed to center around Mrs. G. at first.
