They never say on the show, but they live somewhere in the Los Angeles area.

In the episode where Jan receives the locket, the address given is 4222 Clinton Way, City...

Obviously, they didn't want to identify a particular city as the Brady's residence.

However, someone (I don't remember if it was here on this site or perhaps on the Jump The Shark site) has pointed out that back in those days, in many areas, you could put "City" on a letter, and the Post Office would assume that the letter was intended for delivery in the same city in which it was mailed. If that's true, it was a pretty clever way to avoid naming an actual city.

But the Bradys definitely lived somewhere in California, near Los Angeles.

Actually, I think Peter was the one who said that it must have been mailed from the city where they lived since it just had City in the address.

Santa Monica sounds like the most probable place.

- Near the beach.

- Near the movie studios, where they spend the day with cousin Oliver.

- Not too big. Greg claimed to have searched the entire side of the town on his bicycle to search for Jan's boyfriend, George Glass.

Smile City and State?

I know that the house we see as the exterior,is 11222 Dilling Street, which is located right in the Hollywood area.So that partly leads me to believe that the Bradys live in Los Angeles. They must surely live in Southern California at least, because we,ve never seen it snow in their nieghborhood.

I never got the part about Greg saying "There's no George Glass in this part of town". It's not like they live in a tiny rural town.
How could he check the names of every kid in LA?

I grew up in the LA area when this show was filmed and when we talked about 'town'. We always meant the particular subburb we lived in.

So, to live in LA, as we sometimes refered to our town to outsiders, we all lived in suberbia. Like my town had a population of 10,000 , where the next town over had about 20,000. You all know the towns I am talking about...Newport Beach, Torrence, Lakewood, Redondo Beach, Sana Monica and even Orange County is the same way.

So, Greg could actually know about his part of town as I did mine in my childhood.

But I seem to remember them living in Northern CA.

It was a suburb of Los Angeles. In "A Very Brady Christmas", Alice goes to the airport to pick up some of the kids, and the airport is very clearly LAX.

hmmm...... I just saw something that clicked in my head. That episode where Greg buys the junky car from his friend then tries to resell it to someone else. He says something to his dad along the lines of " You'll never see anything better like this on this side of Indianapolis"? What could he mean by that?

Greg was likely comparing his car to an Indianapolis 500 (aka "Indy 500") race car. Indianapolis is where the Indy 500 (and a few others, such as the Brickyard 400) are run.

Yeah, I know what Indy racing is..and I thought of that but I was also thinking that might have been a clue or something. Oh well, maybe we'll never know.

The original series never gave a hometown, but several clues came out, such as the closeness of the beach and a movie studio (which was of course actually Paramount standing in for the phony movie studio). The Bradys pretty well confirmed that it was the LA area, since Cindy was a DJ at KBLA radio, or some similar-named station.

Also in Kelly's Kids they said they were out west and in Dear Libby they said Farmington Illinois was 2000 miles away (an approximation no doubt!).
