I have searched all over the Internet for the name of the actor who played Papouli, I think sometime during the final season of the show. This show has special meaning because it aired around the time my grandmother passed away.

That would be Jack Kruschen.

I think he was the perfect actor to play the part of Papouli.

In addition to the episode you mentioned where Papouli dies, he also appears in an earlier season episode where Jesse's grandparents visit for their anniversary and bring along Jesse's old girlfriend, a boy that falls for DJ, and a kid that looks like Michelle.

The original airdate for the episode I was seeking was 2/8/1994, so perhaps ABC re-ran it around the middle of May, 1995.
