Webwarrior, does any of these charts are R&B? Here's one:

1. "Jam On It" - Newcleus
2. "Baby Come to Me" - Patti Austin featuring James Ingram
3. "Planet Rock" - Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force
4. "Candy Girl" - New Edition
5. "Rockit" - Herbie Hancock

I miss old school r&b like this, before it became tainted with rap

Not much here that I would call favorite. The top 4 are the best ones. True is a good record. I've heard some pretty stupid cover of it on a movie soundtrack that sounds like Chipmunks singing. Bonnie Tyler does Jim Steinmann justice. He always writes these dramatic numbers that go from quiet to bombastic and back again. Total Eclipse is one of his best. Islands in the Stream has aged well. The BeeGees should have just gone ahead and credited themselves as artists on this, their voices are all over the record. What on earth happened to sweet male/female romantic duets like this and the Luther/Dionne and Roberta/Peabo tunes? Now we have Ashanti and some rapper du jour hollering MURDA while she sings some sample from a 20 year old song.

Other songs on the Hot 100 at the time that were good:

Stop Doggin Me around- Klique
Aint Nobody- Rufus and Chaka Khan
You're Number One- Gladys Knight and the Pips
Lady Love Me (one More Time)- George Benson
